A place where dancing on tables is encouraged, Zaffi has hit Sydney’s dinner and bar scene with a brand that aims to encapsulate the dynamic culture and visceral joy, experienced within the two-storey hotspot.

From the outset, we saw the project as a hybrid narrative, one brand for two distinct offerings, requiring equal consideration to reach both the dinner daters and partygoers.

Tying the restaurant and bar together is a strong Middle Eastern influence from venue owner Chady Khouzame and ex-Rockpool and Chin Chin chef, Graeme Hunt. During our brand research phase, we became enthralled by the vibrancy of Lebanese culture, noticing movement in the Baladi dance, food sharing and contagious interactions. This was a larger than life influence we couldn’t resist. Layering light and motion we designed a brand with dimension that bounces off the walls and into the essence of the space, impossible to ignore, easy to escape in. The brand mark also references the shapes in Arabic calligraphy, executed in all caps to forge a bold and confident presence.

After landing on the Zaffi identity, we worked alongside the talented team at Blackmilk Interiors. Together we imagined a space filled with pink light, almost like a symbolic torch, guiding customers from social media to façade signage and into the Zaffi space for an unforgettable experience.

With menu items such as Wagyu Hummus and Baklava Soft Serve, Zaffi was already pushing the boundaries on traditional culinary formats. Using this innovation as a vehicle for brand, we capture the spirit, joy motion and energy of the party, the celebration, Zaffi!
